How It Works

This page is dedicated to the steps, sequencing, and methods to make the most of the Academy of Doctoral-Prepared Nurses

We work together to address topics and concerns to improve healthcare outcomes, but how do we do this?

#1

A group of doctoral-prepared nurses meet to agree on the topic or concern to be addressed

#2

Once the topic is identified and the parameters of how to approach it are identified, work begins to explore the significance of the problem in both the actual environment (location of the issue) and the literature.

#3

The group reconvenes to validate findings collected so far and then identify steps to work together to further research the phenomenon while applying evidence to the situation to help address the concern or problem.

#4

Further data collection takes place using multiple tools at the disposal of the team. This additional data helps to validate the plans and solidify the research method and intervention.

#5

After the group agrees on the above and additional data is synthesized, the actions of broadening the research of discovery and research of practice take place to demonstrate the scope and practicality of this collaborative research/practice area.

#6

The collection of knowledge and experiences along with results of the implementation of the intervention are appreciated with updated data. This demonstration illustrates real-time research and application of interventions to improve outcomes.

#7

The above is published (primarily in the Journal of the Academy of Doctoral Prepared Nurses) along with other venues to disseminate these findings. Venues could include policy initiatives, organizations that are or could be stakeholders, and entities with similar or tangential expectations.
The financial impact and sustainability of this collective effort must be well documented.
